Rolling down No. 5 Ring Road … a major freeway that circles (duh) the city … in the BOCOG bus, headed for the Main Press Center, and I look down to my left at the cars we’re passing.

And there is a guy in a gray Passat, a fairly recent model, and he’s driving alone. Which more than a few Chinese do, by the way. It’s not just Angelenos who take up roadway with solo commuting.

Anyway, the guy has a couple of athletic jerseys pulled over each of the bucket seats in the front of the car. So the seats don’t burn his back when they get hot, presumably.

And each of the jerseys is a dark blue No. 15 with the name LAMPARD on the back.

“Lampard” being Frank Lampard, 30, the English international midfielder who just today signed a five-year extension with Premier League power Chelsea.

Wonder if  his Chinese fan knew about that and was celebrating.
