And Almost as if On Cue …

China mixed in a silver, in weightlifting. Within a couple of hours of me recommending they do exactly that, in a post two slots below this one.

After winning six golds in six tries, China settled for silver in its seventh muscle competition.

A chap named Li Hongli finished second to a Korean kid — only because the Korean weighed less than did Li — the tiebreaker after the two lifted the same amount of weight.

Either Li is the official goat of the Chinese weightlifting team (“Silver! We throw silver back, dude!”) or he took a bullet for a team that was just a little too successful for its own good. “Comrade, we need to lose one, for appearances sake.”

So now we no longer wonder if the Chinese weightlifting team is doping, and getting away with it.

Well, actually, yes, we still do.
