Odom-Kardashian Wedding: This Won’t End Well

September 27th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Basketball, Kobe, Lakers, NBA

Jiminy Christmas.

It wasn’t enough for the Lakers to be about Kobe and Vanessa Bryant, Phil Jackson and Jeanie Buss, and Ron Artest and whomever/whatever …

Now they have Lamar Odom and Mrs.  Lamar Odom — reality show “star” Khloe Kardashian.

Odom and Kardashian got married today, apparently one month after they met. And a couple of days before the Lakers open training camp.

Hard to imagine this is going to turn out well.

Lamar now is tied into the Kardashian clan, best known now for three sisters who are famous for nothing aside from being famous. Their stepfather is Bruce Jenner, who was a great athlete at the 1976 Olympics but who since has had some of the worst plastic surgery in the history of bad facelifts.

Lamar never has struck me as the kind of guy who could hang with Hollywood people. He seems a bit shy and socially awkward. Just a sense.

And now he’s hooked up with a massively dysfunctional family that seems to live to be pursued by paparazzi.

Just a bad idea. Yes, sure, Odom is an adult and can do whatever he wants. But it’s my belief that all of the Lakers should try to keep as low a profile as possible — because being a Laker is a big enough burden, in L.A., all by itself.

Lamar Odom just went in the wrong direction, jumping into the TMZ planet. And, he will soon find out, he’s going to be the tall guy who is married to Khloe Kardashian — No. 3 in the public’s interest-rankings of the Kardashian girls. I suppose it makes some poetic sense, though — the Lakers’ third option hooking up with the third-most-famous Kardashian girl.

OK, yeah. former Lakers forward Rick Fox was married to Vanessa Williams. For a time. And that worked only because Rick Fox considered himself a Hollywood guy as much as a basketball player. Lamar? He’s just big and kinda dopey. And now he’s part of the Kardashian posse.

Ack. This is not going to end well. Count on it.

Have to completely agree with you on this one, Paul.

Same feeling here, it’s not gonna last like the rest of the hollywood stars.
