World’s Most Expensive Car Heads for UAE

July 14th, 2011 · 1 Comment · soccer, The National, UAE

Good to know the country still has a few million bucks to spend on silly extravangances, aside from Diego Maradona and the Getafe soccer club.

My paper, The National, last week reported that the world’s most expensive car, a custom-made Bugatti L’Or Blanc, has been purchased by an unidentified businessman in Dubai for $2.4 million.

This is a convertible sports car with all the fixin’s and one very specific indulgence:

A “porcelain caviar tray.”

We quote the sales manager for Bugatti as saying it seemed a bit odd to install a porcelain caviar tray in a high-performance sports car, but the heart wants what the heart wants, and our unidentified Dubai businessman wants to snack as he speeds.

Whoever this guy is, Bugatti previously revealed he owns around 800 cars. (Let’s see … he drives one per day, he can get around to the last of them in the third month of Year 3.)

We assume the Bugatti will be driven much sooner than that.

Feel free to follow the slide show on The National home page for more images of the Bugatti L’Or Blanc.
