Today’s List: My 10 Favorite Andruw Jones Stats

April 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Baseball, Dodgers, Fantasy Baseball, Lists

And that is said for ironic effect. Yes. The guy is horrible, and he’s killing my fantasy league team. Not to mention the Dodgers.

Let us count the ways!

10. His batting average is so far below the Mendoza Line, at .159, that he would have to go 6-for-6 to get over .200.

9. His on-base percentage (.266) is lower than that of right-handed pitcher Derek Lowe (.273).

8. He is hitting .261 with one homer against left-handed pitching. And that’s his GOOD split. He’s batting .119 with no homers against right-handed pitching.

7. He hasn’t been intentionally walked yet this season. Juan Pierre, however, has.

6. He has struck out at a .354 clip (29 times in 82 at-bats).

5. He is only the second-best AJones in baseball. The one in Baltimore (Adam Jones) is hitting .247 with twice as many doubles (six) and RBI (eight). While earning $390,000 this season.

4. To get his batting average over .300, he would have to go 17-for-17.

3. At his current rate of homers (one in 25 games), he will end the season with six.

2. He is hitting .050 (1-for-20) with runners in scoring position.

1. He is signed for “only” two seasons. Albeit at $36.5 million.

As ‘Druw said after his 0-for-4 with three whiffs on Sunday: “I just have to keep going out there and playing.”

That’s exactly what alarms us most.

That would be cool to come up with a Top-10 list about something, anything everyday.
