Time for Andruw Jones to Turn It On

July 7th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Dodgers, Fantasy Baseball

This barking hound, the first outfielder I took in our fantasy league draft … with the 54th (!) pick overall … probably will suddenly find his stroke now?

Why?

Because I just dumped Andruw Jones off my team.

So he can continue to screw with my mind … by going on a homer binge.

I actually played the guy for the first month or so, waiting for him to get started. And he never did, of course.

Then he got hurt, and I was able to park him on our league’s disabled list.

He came back over the weekend, earlier than expected, and he’s 1-for-10 since (with a groundball single up the middle on Sunday) … but because he’s back I have to get rid of an outfielder. My other six guys are Pat Burrell, Alex Rios, J.D. Drew, Luke Scott, Gary Sheffield and Melky Cabrera.

I considered dumping Sheffield, instead, but Sheff plays for a team that scores far more runs than the Dodgers, and Sheff had a decent season more recently.

Anyway, whatever I do with Andruw Jones is certain to be wrong. Drafting him? A mistake. Drafting him high? A huge mistake.

And now dumping him? Everything I’ve done with this guy is a mistake. So expect him to start hitting.

He and Ned Colletti can thank me later.
