Looking for the Fiesta Bowl, in Hong Kong

January 5th, 2009 · 2 Comments · College football, Hong Kong

This slays me. I just got done watching UCLA and Oregon in college basketball, on ESPN-Asia. A game that was at least 24 hours old. Well, at least I’ve seen the Bruins once.

But the big bowl of the day? Which is going on right this minute? Texas and Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl?

Nowhere to be seen.

Who does the programming here? Why can I see European indoor soccer,  tennis from last night, men’s gymnastics from Lord-knows-when and two seriously ancient soccer matches (Chelsea and West Brom and Juventus and Inter who played, what, 10 days ago)?

Can’t someone throw a switch and show me Colt McCoy and Terrelle Pryor, and the eternally mussed and agitated Mack Brown and sweater-vested Jim Tressel on the sidelines?

It’s driving me crazy.  I see on espn.com that it’s17-9 Texas in the fourth quarter … but I’ll have to read about it. Or wait till they get around to showing it here — in the middle of the night in a day or two.

Just look for the final 4 minutes on youtube or something. it’s literally the only part of the game that didn’t suck.

Are you still in Hong Kong? Because I’m here for the foreseeable future and I would REALLY love a place I can watch some college ball.
