Watching Kim Kardashian Dine in Dubai

November 18th, 2014 · No Comments · Dubai, The National

Apparently, it is Dubai’s great good fortune to have vacuous celebrities drop by fairly regularly.

Last month, it was Paris Hilton.

In this case, it is Kim Kardashian, who may rank No. 1 in world history in the dubious category of “famous for being famous”. Which, apparently, qualifies her as the “world’s hottest dinner date”.

This media release dropped into our email, at The National, today.

Nobody seems to plan to do anything about it, but it was a topic of conversation.

This is what it looked like, complete with typo in the first sentence of the text.

Arguably the most famous women on the planet, Kim Kardashian West has confirmed that she will be coming to Dubai to host a dinner at Dubai’s hippest Japanese restaurant, Toko Restaurant, at Vida Downtown on Monday 24thNovember.

“She is a real icon of our times, and we are really looking forward to welcoming her at Toko,” said Owner Evgeny Kuzin.  “We have decided to offer our clients access to the evening rather than closing it off as a private event.”

Everyone can share in this exclusive opportunity with Kim, taking place from 10pm on Monday 24thNovember, with a set four-course menu priced at just AED 550 per person.  The fabulous evening with Kim includes drinks and the chance to sit and speak with the reality star herself, all set to the opulent atmosphere that Toko Restaurant and Lounge is famed for.

Tickets to the hottest dinner date in town are limited, call +971 4442 8383 to make a reservation.

Red Carpet opens at 9pm, with Kim expected to arrive at Toko at 10pm.

••Photographers are advised to arrive at 9 pm.••

About TOKO

As a well-established Sydney born brand, TOKO offers clientele modern Japanese ‘izakaya’ style dining in an impeccably designed setting.  Located in the luxury boutique Vida Hotel Downtown, the venue includes a restaurant, lounge, expansive terrace, private dining, and multiple bars. Core to TOKO’s concept are menus tailored to incorporate unique Japanese culinary techniques and premium produce with creative flair.

So, there it is.

If you are wondering, 550 UAE dirhams is just short of $150.

The resto no doubt is spending a lot of money to get the celebrity endorser in the door. And maybe it’s worth it; here I am, writing about it. A first-class plane ticket from L.A. probably part of the deal. And maybe Kim can package the stopover with some other regional sessions of “just showing up”.

In theory, someone could have called the restaurant today and made a reservation … to be in the same room with someone best known for celebrity boyfriends and an X-rated video … and perhaps that person might have been able to speak to KK. About deep topics, no doubt.

Or at least about the miso soup.
