Get Your Own Head on a Bobblehead!

August 24th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Baseball, soccer

My daughter Drew sent me this link to a site that makes bobblehead dolls … and will do one of … you.

Go check it out. I’ll wait.

I’m a huge bobblehead enthusiast, as many of you know. I love bobbleheads.

But this seems a shade creepy, no? Must be a Twilight Zone episode in there somewhere.

Seems like a lot to spend for an overtly vain sort of thing. “Make a doll in my image, please.”

But it’s intriguing. What would your bobblehead doppelganger look like? Just you standing there looking dignified? (Aside from your head wagging whenever someone shakes the doll.) You in your car? You playing an electric guitar? Or taking a big cut at a fastball? Or kicking a soccer ball?

Still, I’d worry that my bobblehead would fall into the wrong hands, and some Haitians might start to stick pins in it. Or throw “me” out a window,  or something.

Bobbles the mind. Make that “boggles” the mind.

What if you did this and weren’t happy with the results?

I always wonder what the baseball players think of their bobbleheads, and through an amazing coincidence, I “happened”to be covering the Matt Kemp bobblehead night at Dodger Stadium last week. So I asked Kemp.

His response: “It looks kinda like me. I look better in person than on a bobblehead, but it definitely does look me a little bit.”
