Al Fresco April

April 19th, 2014 · No Comments · Abu Dhabi, UAE

This is the first month of the UAE calendar when you can assume a sane person no longer spends a lot of time in the sun. The high every day this week was 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Or more.

However, if you pay attention to the meteorological data — or poke your head out the door — it is still possible to spend a very pleasant evening on a terrace or on a balcony.

We did just that tonight.

It was down to the low 90s, and (crucially) a breeze was still noticeable, and the balcony at the apartment practically demanded I spend my first day off of the week sitting on it and looking at the view.

Viewing is a little more interesting when you are holding a tall glass with lots of ice in it and, perhaps most significantly, a healthy dose of Baileys Irish Creme and soda.

Whatever problems we have with weather here, this time of year, and through October, we must concede that our next domicile is unlikely to have a 10th-story view or many Saturday nights in April when we can sit outside in perfect comfort and watch a big city go dark and its lights come on.
